ATG — Cultural Centre of JapAn in Paris
The ATG was founded in 1961 with the association of small producers, film critics and cinema lovers, and the support from the Tôhô company which provided it with a network of independent theaters. In less than five years, it became the main Japanese artistic centre, anti-commercial and anti-industrial. The ATG system (economy of means, sharing of financial risks, primacy of art) was a unique moment in the history of cinema and would be responsible for much of the Japanese author's cinema to come.

ATG — Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris
L’ATG voit le jour en 1961 avec l’association de petits producteurs, critiques de cinéma et cinéphiles, et le mécénat de la compagnie Tôhô qui la dota d’un réseau de salles indépendantes. En moins de cinq ans, il devient le principal foyer artistique nippon, anti-commercial et anti-industriel. Le système ATG (économie de moyens, partage des risques financiers, primauté de l’art) était un moment unique dans l’histoire du cinéma sans lequel le cinéma d’auteur japonais n’aurait jamais existé.
